As part of our sponsorship benefits, OPAP gave the opportunity to many of you to attend the 35th Footballers’ Awards event, the OSCAR ceremony of Greek football. The event is organized annually by PSAP and rewards athletes, who had the best performance in the past year, along with remarkable achievements of individual players and teams, exemplary behaviors and statements. This year’s event, held in Megaron Athens Concert Hall, was organized by the Footballers Association in order to reward the football players, who played in the two professional leagues for the season 2015-2016. Our Company for the second consecutive year chose to award the trophy in the "Fair Play" category. Τhe evening ended with special awards for the recognized long term “social contribution” of various personalities of the Greek football.

Yet, we do not limit the process and we aim to continue and involve all members of the organization in the near future.

OPAP Sport Academies Festival
For a second consecutive year, the “OPAP Sport Academies” program travels across Greece and implements big sporting festivals for the young athletes of the 125 academies that participate in the program. The young athletes take part in team games, sport matches without score, interactive games on balanced nutrition, experiential activation during which children compete as Paralympic athletes and last but not least, demonstrations of Olympic sports.
Meanwhile, parents and escorts may participate in seminars and interactive games in psychology, nutrition and first aid from the specialized scientific team of the program. Τhe three first festivals have been already implemented, in Heraklion, Patra and Argos with the participation of 2,470 children and 3,300 parents and escorts. Hospitals
True to our commitment to continue the renovation work, we proceed full speed. Today, the works in the 4th floor of “P&A Kyriakou” Children Hospital and the 6th floor of “Aghia Sophia” Children Hospital are in progress. In the two floors of the Hospitals, all the construction and decoration works, as well as, the repair and partial replacement of hotel and office equipment are under development, aiming to offer a better therapeutic environment to the children. Up until today, OPAP has delivered 8 renovated Nursing Units, of 5,330 square meters total area and 191 beds in capacity, which are a pleasant therapeutic environment of international standards for the children, their parents, and the medical and nursing staff. |

Q: What is your previous professional background?
A: I joined OPAP at the end of 2014. My overall 15 years professional experience, has been mainly in the field of Commercial Communication of multinational companies in the sectors of Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Advertising.
Q: What do you do for a hobby?
A: In general, I’m a person of constant motion. During winter season I enjoy alpine skiing, during summer kitesurfing while the rest of the year I spend my weekends doing some mountain biking and running. Free time is limited for all of us, but if you really want something, you can always find time to do it.
Q: What is your personal brand life statement?
A: I wouldn’t say that I have an entirely personal brand statement but if I had to choose something that I’d like to stand for that would be the Latin phrase «Amat victoria curam» meaning “Victory loves preparation”.
Q: What excites you the most about your day at OPAP?
A: What really excites with OPAP products is that unlike most products or services where the customers consider something ordinary or just necessary, our products fill our players’ life with the thrill and emotions of the game, changing, in many cases, their life and making their dreams come true.

Q: Which are the strategic and operational action planning on expanding the power of our Brand?
A: Over the last 3 years at OPAP, we have made significant progress in refreshing our communication towards our products, with which our customers keep an everyday contact. The significant improvement of the image and commercial results of Tzoker, Scratch, Lotto and Laiko Laxeio as well, is the proof of the work that has been done. Having laid the solid foundation, the further strengthening of our corporate image, constituted our main communicational target. 2016 was the year during which our campaigns for the CSR, the sponsorships of the Paralympic Team and Athens Marathon, considerably enhanced OPAP’s corporate profile. Our continuous communication, culminating in the Athens Marathon campaign, was the event that brought OPAP at the top on people’s minds regarding the CSR. In 2017, we take it one step further, launching, through a brand new campaign, our overall corporate positioning statement around the concept of Fun and Entertainment.
Q: Which are the key pillars of our brand communication roadmap?
A: If I had to distinguish some of the actions concerning the 2017 communication plan, that would be the following:

• The improvement of our corporate image in the field of Fun, Credibility and our support
to society as well;
• The continuous support of our business through the products’ campaigns
Q: How do you plan to further develop OPAP’s Sponsorship program?
A: Sponsorship as a means of communication and connection with the customer has changed over the last years. For this reason, we have already started adding to our sponsorships an experiential aspect, offering this way the chance mainly to our customers but also to our colleagues to live unique Brand experiences. Actions such as the “VIP courtside seat”, attending matches in the VIP suites, the player – kids escorts and the engagement of the teams’ fans through our social media, have transformed our sponsorships to an extended dialogue between customers and OPAP, which they share in the social and traditional media, something that enhances OPAP’s brand image in the best way. Our objective for 2017 is to remind to all Greeks,
OPAP’s leading position in the area of sponsorship, as one of the greatest sponsors in Greece and the greatest sponsor of Greek Sports.

A: The team consists of 15 persons, coming from different sectors, with different backgrounds and experience each one of them, but with a common characteristic: the passion and enthusiasm for what we do. Along with Spyros, Georgia and Vasilis, who follow closely our presence in all types of events such as matches, teams’ events etc.; they develop our Sponsorship Selection Strategy, take care of our excellent branding in all our sponsorships and all the programs such as tickets distribution etc. Also, the job that has been done by Thanasis’s team in cooperation with the BTL team in the Sports Academies Festivals, is really impressive.

Event for the new Play era!
On the occasion of the opening of the first 4 Play stores, we held an internal event at the restaurant so that all of you would have the chance to experience a Play store, become familiar with the area and the VLT machines, play and have fun! The restaurant was transformed for a few hours into a Play store where we had the opportunity to get to know the VLTs, play the games, get photographed, and enjoy a light meal in a festive atmosphere with music backup!
Additionally, a contest was organized where people were invited to play at the VLTs in order to increase their profit and win! Our winners were:

The first evacuation drill has been successfully accomplished
The first evacuation drill of our new Head Offices was successfully conducted on Friday, February 3rd. With the help of the Evacuation Team volunteers, all employees and visitors successfully evacuated the building and headed to the predetermined assembly area within a satisfactory timeframe.
The Evacuation Team has been formed in order to help all of us remain safe if necessary. The team’s volunteers to whom you may address for more information, come from all the teams and are located on each floor.
This preventive action aims to help maintain alertness and improve personnel’s response time in case of emergency. Relevant instructions and an Escape Plan are already posted on the emergency exits. Similar drills will be carried out at regular intervals.
You never know…a volunteer of the evacuation team may be sitting next to you.

OPAP’s basketball team, leaving behind three consecutive unfortunate results, made a “come back” and is still in the 5th place of the Championship’s board.
Our Team will aim for the victory in the last two games that will lead them to the 4th position and the advantage in the play offs.
The upcoming matches against Milwaukee and Mighty Forkz will have particular character and we expect them to be fascinating.

This period, our OPAP Football Team has recorded four wins against Intrasoft, Sleed, Depa Fisikon and Triena teams with scores 2-0, 3-0, 6-0 and 6-2 respectively and two defeats against Ektelonistes Piraia and Aegean teams with scores 4-2 and 2-0 respectively.
Our team currently ranks 3rd at the 1st group with 37 points. As far as the Cup is concerned, we have been drawn against ETHEL (date yet to be decided).
Last, in the presence of the Chairman, Mr. Ziegler and our Chief People Officer Ms. Moser, the OPAP Football Team cut the New Year’s pie.

Another exciting month, for PAME STOIXIMA with two fantastic pieces of news!

On February 14th, KINO reached 600,000 draws. So, along with the Valentine’s Day, OPAP celebrated the No. 1 game that operates as of 2004. Grasping this opportunity let’s see some of KINO Facts:
1. ΚΙΝΟ is perhaps the most ancient game of chance in the world. It was firstly operated in China about 3,000 years ago. It is said that a part of the Great Wall was financed by KINO.
2. 157 draws are realized every day - every 5’ from 09:00 to 22:00.
3. 11,000 are the winning columns of each draw.

Numeric Games: TZOKER: MYTHS and REALITY
Myth busting continues in this newsletter as well! Up to now we have already busted 2 of the most famous myths around our favorite game and we continue with an even “hotter” topic that is often discussed inside and outside of our stores.
There is a conspiracy theory among our players that has to do with this “half an hour” interval from the moment of closing the slips’ submission till the time the draw starts. Some of them are sure that this 30-minute gap has been set by OPAP in order for the company to check all the played slips and “manipulate” the draw results.
What do you know about it? Let’s see what holds true.
MYTH #3
"OPAP has set this 30-minute gap.” “During this half-an-hour interval OPAP goes through all the played combinations and manipulates the draw according to its interests.”
REALITY #3
To the absolute contrary of this myth, these 30 minutes are there to ensure even higher protection to the players. Specifically, the 30 minutes between the moment participations are completed (21:30) and the moment that the draw starts (approximately 22:00) are necessary to run all the credibility processes as defined by law. In detail, every participating playslip of the upcoming draw is locked in a file by a produced key number. Then, the file is sent to the Independent Control Committee’s Computerized System; the Committee belongs to the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Only after all data is secured and every necessary procedure is made and verified, does the Control Committee give the final go to start the draw.

Horse Races S.A. (HRSA) celebrated its first birthday with a special event at the Racetrack premises at Markopoulo on Saturday, February 11, 2017. The full racing program started at 13:30 and the celebration for the first year of the successful operation followed. All members of the Racing Community were present as well as famous artists and athletes, who came to honor and to award, along with HRSA, those who excelled on the racecourse in 2016. The intensive work continues in 2017. On Sunday, February 12th, we welcomed with great joy the event of the Hellenic Cycling Federation “Start of the Racing Cycling period of 2017” at the Markopoulo Racetrack. The event for the mini categories (ages 8-12) consisted of 4cross and skill races. In order for the kids to get to know the sport better and to see the horses, a racehorse show took place for the guests. Finally, the highlight of the day was the race between the Olympic medalist G. Heimonetos, who competed with his bike against a horse!

February 1st has been a milestone in OPAP’s journey towards building the technology pillar of the 2020 Vision as our CEO officially announced a set of new strategic technology partnerships that will enable OPAP to modernize the technology landscape and gain more direct control by expanding and deepening our technology capabilities. The Transformation Team in Technology has been working closely with our key three new partners that have been chosen to support us in deliver results upon this vision, namely Novomatic Lottery Solutions (NLS), Playtech BGT Sports and Betgenius. This programme, even though it has been initiated by the Technology team, it will encompass change in multiple facets of the entire company and to this end the Transformation team will be engaging with a vast array of stakeholders across most - if not all - teams in the organization to make the OPAP 2020 vision a reality.
